Travel Green

Eva and I are very close to Nature. We want this trip to be as ecological as possible.

We are traveling in a Camping Car, not too Ecolo you might say. Well, we don’t think so. Actually it is pretty Ecologic, Let us show you how :

First of all we bought an old Camping car, a Mercedes-Benz 207D. This car is 30 years old. In those years camping cars were made out of wood and not plastic. The engine is quite good with a consumption around 11l/100km knowing that a mini cooper is around 7.5l/100km.

There was no shower in our van so we searched and found a very ecologic system, using the cooling system of the engine to warm water to about 80 degrees in almost 10 minutes of driving. It is a Elgena Boiler mostly used on boats. We drive 10 minutes and have 30l of shower around 45 degrees. Very efficient because it keeps the water warm for 48 hours. No Gaz, no Electricity, only Cooling liquid !

We discovered WWOOF and HELPX lately. Two organizations that are based on Exchange. WWOOF says : “WWOOF organisations link people who want to volunteer on organic farms or smallholdings with people who are looking for volunteer help.” We are stopping on organic farms through our trip, mostly with HELPX, providing our help and learning more about Organic farming and “Green living”. This is for us the opportunity to have solid experience and be able to use them in our everyday life.

To Compensate our Carbon Footprint, we decided to plant trees once we return on Manu’s Family’s Farm in GERS, FR. Trees while growing eat Carbon dioxide. Our goal is to reduce our impact to Zero.

So is it more ecologic to live in an apartment in the city? Definitely not. The idea of traveling green is more than possible, and very easy access to anybody. If you want to learn more about how we do it contact us at travelgreen@travelinmusic.net.

With love,

Eva and Manu
